There are many ways humans have impacted Rivers both positive and negative. People have not taken action for what they have done to the rivers around the world. Factory's use rivers to dump chemicals into.(as seen in the photo above) People use them as garbage bags and the animals inhabiting these rivers are dying because of it. Not all things that humans do to rivers are bad though. Some people are starting to clean up rivers. People around the world are getting together and creating environmental groups to clean the environment in and around rivers.
Humans need to know what they are doing to rivers. They are neglecting the fact of how important rivers and streams are. One of the biggest problems that humans cause in rivers is factory dumpings. Factory's are dumping there unneeded toxic waste into rivers willie-nillie. The smoke and smuk they release off into the air is terrible for all environments, it just floats into the ozone layer and it causes acid rain and that falls into the river sometimes killing all animals in the water, or what drinks the water. I think that we could fix this problem by disposing of factory waste properly. We could also be more careful where we put factory's and try not to bunch them all right next to each other. If it was possibly maybe we could cut down on how many factorys' we have.
Another problem facing rivers is agricultural pollution. When organic farm wastes like silage or liquid manure escape to rivers, the amount of oxygen in the water is reduced, killing many fish. Nitrate pollution problems occur when too much chemical fertilizer is applied to the land. The excess fertilizer runs off into rivers, which also kills fish. If farmers didn't have their farms near rivers or bodies of water, then maybe this issues would not happen as often, conserving the 1% of freshwater in the world.
